Nicole is an expert in strategic communications and plain language writing and editing. As Plainly Speaking’s founder, she’s the driving force behind everything we do. Our clients love her energy, optimism and commitment to excellence. She has 30 years of experience in communications, broadcast journalism, academia, training and government. To top that off, she’s fluently bilingual in English and French.
Outside of work, Nicole loves to travel (she’s lived in five different countries!), explore the outdoors, get involved in the community and spend time with her family.
Debbie is a skilled senior consultant who keeps us focused and on track. We love her eye for detail and knack for logistics, which she applies to everything from research to writing, editing, proofreading and project management. She has over 25 years of experience working with healthcare organizations, government, not-for-profit groups and small businesses.
When she’s not working, you’ll find Debbie spending time with her daughters at the cottage, cheering them on playing ringette and travelling.
Emily is an experienced communications and marketing specialist with a passion for all things digital. She helps us create engaging content for our clients that gets results. Over her 15-year career, she’s worked with not-for-profits, technology and gaming companies, and small businesses.
When she’s not brainstorming her next content idea, you’ll find Emily spending time with her young family, exploring nature and travelling.
Anne Louise is a certified professional editor who adds polish to our content. She specializes in copy editing, stylistic and structural editing, plain language editing, comparative reviews, writing, proofreading and quality control. She has more than 30 years of experience with a wide range of government, corporate, book publishing and education clients.
When she’s not editing and writing, Anne Louise enjoys connecting with family and friends, baking, walking around her neighbourhood, and reading books that other people have edited.
Christine is an accomplished English to French certified (OTTIAQ) translator with over 25 years of experience in the language sector. With a deep understanding of both languages, she is skilled at producing fluent translations that stay true to the original content. She has taught French and French Literature at the University of Ottawa, published several short stories and academic essays.
When she’s not translating content, you’ll find Christine gardening, knitting, painting, writing and spending time with her family and friends.
